How does the use of technology "re-tool" or teach a new skill needed for job change or advancement to adult learners?
The internet is used for many purposes and education would be one of the main purposes. Please tell me in your words how technology gives new skills to adults in search of jobs or career advancement.

Technology now is a vital skill needed in every day uses. The reason why I said that is because technology can all most do every thing. Technology teaches a person a different verity of things that we needed to succeed in life. Computer is an example of technology that holds billions of information that a person can benefit from. When using computer you can fill out resume, memos, and business letter for a job position. Also computer have programs like nova net and read 180 that teachies a person about English, Math, and every thing period. Young teen and adolescent are benefiting from the technology around the world especial computer. As time go by technology will continue to evolve and the people with it.
ReplyDeleteTechology has been evolving for years. Students are able to take college courses on the internet. I remember my senior year in high school, I had a math class on the computer. I had to type written assistants for english class. I could also access books on the internet for reading class. Technology helps improve your professional level. For example, Most people are not good at writing and editing their papers correctly, but using Microsoft Word helps you spell and format your paper correctly. When searching for a job, the process is different from the old days. Before, you had to go into the job and fill out an application. Now, you fill out an application online. Online apps are a faster way to get a job. Also, you can train for a job online and find out all about the skills and qualifications needed for the job. The computer as become a great advantage for people to learn more facts and discover new things.

ReplyDeleteTechnology is very important and I think that people should take it more serious. Because the internet allows you to take online classes,if you don't feel like getting up in the morning to actually attend class.
The internet also allows you to find things you need for other classes and other stuff. Technology is important to me,because it helps me find the things I need and it allows me to learn more about stuff I don't know. The internet now have applications online that you can sit at home and fill out. Instead of sitting there filling it out by hand.
It is a lot more easier to do things on the internet. The computer has become an big impact in my life,because it helps me figure out things that encyclopedias and dictionaries won't.
In todays times there have been so many cases in "downsizing" at the corporate level and also in some business fields. The knowledge thats known in the last decade,that was done manually has taken another toll. Manual labor has been replaced with computers and to keep up with "Hi-Tech" replacements the skills have to accomodate the replacements. Even though it might not be in the same field "one" has been downsized from, yet a new career still needs the advance training to compete with others in what ever your endeavor in the business world.
ReplyDeleteIn response to Mr. James Blaise 5's comments I too am in total asgreement with the validity of computer knowledge. But in cases of on line college participation I became apprehensive. The reason was an is, is because of the personal connection I needed in order to ask questions where probably everyone else understood. Questions, clarity, and an indepth understanding of the course, or the quiz, or the test or the assignment. To me that's attain by "in your face" information. Dealing with young teens there's monitoring rules that should be applied. Yes its helpful in there venture into "New World" knowledge, but if unsupervised their inquisitive minds can also make trouble for themselves. Information, molesters,and the sort are just waiting out there for an opportunity to get into private matters. This could go for all ages but I stated the young because they are most impressionable.

No matter whats your desired goal in life there's ideal information on-line about it. But as I spoke to Mr. Blaise about college participation, that was not for me. The involvement with computers, so far as informative, I am on one accord with that. But I also see the "go get em" attitude being tampered with when people get out of the habit of "going". Going to class, going to fill out an application.(now I know some places require computer "fill outs").But in some cases it takes out the personal touch or the eye to eye contact to show your seriousness about the job applied for. There are great advantages for improvement with the computer as our aide. But let it be our aide and not our crutch. How? By robbing us of our "go get em"

ReplyDeleteTechnology and Education can be a great experience, if you don't abuse your usage. I find the technology to be great,when using sources to do homework/classwork it saves me alot of time form being in places That I don't want to be, It's a lot of School's that has online classes, which I'm a true fan off. In, 2008 I attended School online, it was very convient, I even went on my own pace. I find technology to be a great educational use, and I find it to be a great learning tool,if you don't abuse it! I found a beautiful begining in my life from using an on-line school. Today that is the advantage of a wonderful education begining.

I guess the way the world is " you get it, or you dont" It's extreamly important to keep up with technology, because people in general will lack or go with out! So, lets soak it in absorb all we can on the latest technology and education.

And i think that people should take the time out to experience it. Instead of taking their time out to do other things as in smoking and drinking. Because the internet is based on learning about things you need to know in this world today.

ReplyDeleteTechnology works in various ways from cell phones to lab tops. I can use my cell phone and lab top anywhere i go to pull up any information i need for class or for things i need to know to better myself.
I don't see how people abuse the use of the internet,to look at porn and fights. Because to me that's not cute nor it's nothing to help us people in the world to get an education and to better themselves.
I use the internet to get my education and i bring what i learn back to school and tell the teacher and my peers what i've learned.
But to some all of this up,everybody need to stop abusing the usage of the internet and use it to get thier education and to learn more things about what's going on this very day in the world.
Technology is one of the most important accets in todays world it is very important.It is a most that you are technology smart in the work force today I say this becasue most jobs and diffrent carrers are ranned by some type of technology. from jobs at your local fastfood restaurnts to being a big CEO of a multimillion dollar company you have to be techenical smart and its a must you know how to use a computer.Being techinical smart gives you andvantage in many ways when looking fora job or diffrent career choices. its is so much easier to write that resumae out in your own home comftable while on the internet are send diffrent memos via email to diffrenceds companys letting them no your skills. In highschool i remember taking online courses for French, without technology taking courses online wouldnt be available. Technology has made it so easy to fill out applications and find jobs. There's online applications that wouldn't be possible without technology. Computers are a big part of technology, that many people use. You can learn so much from computers and technology. In this day and time technology makes it very easy to fill out applications without having to actually go to job your applying for. Technology is amazing and you can learn alot from it.

Job applications are available over the internet so that a person seeking a job can fill out apllications at a time or pace that is convient for them. Resumes can be sent over the internet. Many people take college courses over the internet to get a college degree without having to worry about how they will get to school or how there job will affect thier school time.

ReplyDeleteI think the internet is a wonderful invention, that has taking the world by storm. The internet performs task in hours and seconds, that once took days evern years. Thanks to the internet there are less strangers in the world. Like everything else the internet can also be use for non-productive means. One of the negatives about the internet is, when the innocent cross paths with the wicked. Children, business, and individual livelyhood can all be both positively and negatively impacted by internet use. My life, has been enhanced by my newly aquired passion for the internet. When I perpare for sermons i am able to explore several research outlits at the same time. I don't have to by as many book as I used too, because the internet can fetch me certain parts of information without me having to by the book.

Most, jobs today only will take web applications. Everyone is basiclly going paperless so to speak.I,feel that if your technology skills are rusty, I suggest you brush up, and learn it. Being, ready for technology is a must know on need to know basis.
ReplyDeleteIf, all college's would take advantage of technology life would be better for some people. As, I stated in a previous segment, that I attened online school. Using technology made life a little easier, because I have numerous of health problems, that wasnt under control. I wasnt physically able to attend a classroom setting. Therefore, I attended an online college, I found it to be very convient. They didn't take row(lol) but, they were very serious as well about finishing the needed courses to graduate. Today's technology is really great, and has given me advancement to more adult learning. Success is knocking on each, and every indiviual are you listening?

Students rarely do research that cause them to think out side the box. because they hardly every have to read anything the opposes their view points. ReplyDeleteI agree. Most job applications are on line. I believe that the use of technology will always increase. Now its beginning to become a necessity to have the internet because in a few years, all of the job applications will be online.
Technology also allows you to contact someone you havent seen in a long time. Facebook and myspace allows you to interact and network with people from other cities states and countries.

ReplyDeleteI can relate to you because i went gjob hunting the other day and almost all of the places that i applied to, I was told to fil out the application on the internet. Jobs are beginning to give applications online. Thats how important the internet is.
And you are correct. without the internet life would be slower. The internet is a fast way it program information other than having to write it all down and place it in a file that is possible to get lost.

Technology does make life easier as a college student i agree with you on that. Without technology we wouldnt be able to type or print or recieve the proper information for researches. Networking other people is also a popular thing to do in todays society. I just recently found my older sister who i havent seen in years. Technology and the internet allowed me to do that.

I got a job using online applications also. Its a well organized way to apply. Its also faster to get feedback from the job. Once i filled out an application and the next day i recieved an email from them asking for a job interview. Technology allowed that to happen.

In response to jamesblaise5, I agree technology is very important and in my opinion, if we didnt have technology we would be living the early 1900's. I like using the computer to update my resume to get better jobs and learn different languages like spanish. Also, love chatting with my family and friends.

They allow you to take your time and you can work at your own speed to get the job done.I have dealt wit this before hand i really enjoy how it's setup. It's designed just like regular universites but your not sitting in a class room.
In response to Victor, I agree because everywhere I go I see computers. Rather it's cell phones, game systems, or a computer in someones home. They are everywhere! It is great that if you do need to search for some information for school or just for personal reasons. The internet is there and most of the time Google is the popular website for people to use to search for facts.

That means not downloading porn and looking at fights on the internet,because that's not educational wise and it is also called "abusing the usage of the internet" (by looking at porn).
I agree with Jamesblaise5 internet is a much needed resource and it do help make people lives easier. If the internet had not been invented then it we would have to actually read upon information and that could take hours to accompolish. I use the internet for many of my school classes. I use the internet alot for my comp class. To do reasearch papers and things of that nature. I also use the internet daily in my intro to computer class.

Think about it, there's not just one set of people using the web for personal use for things such as facebook,myspace,google and so on and so forth.

ReplyDeleteI don't know the basic skills to the latest technology. I am still trying to get the hang of todays technology. I am in college and, I always have a paper to type and, it takes me a very long time to type paper. I think it's a good thing that job applications are online. What about the ones that don't know how to use the computer? Therefore, it takes me so long to get on the right website and sometimes, I never get to the applications so, I can fill them out.

I am very enthused on my education.I decided to futher my education,I want to be able to show my children that,when you put hard work at the end their is success in the ending. When you lack education there is no ending nor, begining. Today, that's why I attend Arkansas Baptist College, becouse I want a beatiful ending.
In respond to Natasha I think online class are good for people that have computers at home. I think it's also good for mothers with children that are not old enough to attend school that don't have child care. I plan to try online class in the fall.
